About the role

This position plays a central role in managing, supporting and stewarding current relationships, while identifying new opportunities with like-minded institutions who have the ability to financially support our work. The role will work closely with other key members of the TFA team to understand institutional funder needs and ensure responsiveness.

 

About You

Essential

  • Experience in developing mutually beneficial relationships with the philanthropic & corporate sector
  • Minimum of three years’ experience securing gifts from Trusts & Foundations and/or Corporates
  • Experience working within a revenue generating team in a mission driven organisation
  • Bachelor’s level degree in a related field or commensurate work experience

 

Desirable

  • Demonstrated history of securing and stewarding major gifts from institutions
  • Experience in philanthropic business development

 

 

Key Accountabilities

External Engagement

  • Ownership and accountability for external relationships held (for purposes of revenue generation and profile) including contracts and agreements. It is essential that these relationships are mutually beneficial and stewarded in a manner which builds long term relationships.
  • Oversee relationships that require subscriptions for sector related partnerships and revenue generating opportunities
  • Ensure sound relationship management including risk management and mitigation.
  • Maintain positive, strong working relationships with the Teach For All network, namely philanthropy and partnership functions including those with network partners of the APAC region.

 

Leadership and Board Engagement

  • Liaise with the Philanthropy Stewardship Coordinator for project management, planning and coordination, and delivery of Philanthropy and Donor stakeholder events
  • Support stewardship of Philanthropy & Partnerships team
  • Work collaboratively across all TFA functions including but not limited to CEO Office, Executive Leadership Team, Government Relations & Media, Marketing & Communications, Community and Programs teams.
  • Maintain positive and strong working relationships with TFA’s board members including provide assets and support to Board Members to ensure they feel equipped to support TFA’s philanthropic activities
  • Develop effective networks with the Senior Leadership Team, program Teams and Alumni to build new relationships, to share knowledge and ideas
  • Work in partnership with the Finance and Business Services team to ensure appropriate funding packages for philanthropy including timely and accurate reporting and financial management of philanthropic funds.
  • Strategic planning and positioning, contributing to the development and implementation of the Philanthropy & Partnerships strategic plan.

 

Planning & Research

  • Develop a framework for engaging with the philanthropic sector including but not limited to Corporates and Trust and Foundations who share TFAs passion for reducing educational inequity.
  • Ensure proactive understanding of current needs of funding institutions and identify opportunities for mutually beneficial partnerships
  • Ensure TFAs case for support is responsive to the needs of institutions seeking to engage with us
  • Assess alignment of institutional funders to TFAs mission and develop strategies for engagement

 

Identification and Cultivation

  • Establish a network of institutions who are aligned with TFAs objectives with a propensity to invest
  • Identify, cultivate, manage, progress, and track a pipeline of prospects
  • Identify opportunities for mutually beneficial, revenue-generating partnerships aligned with TFAs organisational and programmatic priorities
  • Work with Development Communications Lead to generate strong, concise, compelling pitches
  • Where possible identify collaborative funding opportunities between funders and community partners
  • Meet internal targets for Trust and Foundations fundraising
  • Identify non-financial opportunities with stakeholders to support TFA’s operations including but not limited to strategy development, recruitment, and media opportunities

 

Stewardship

  • Develop and implement a strong and sustainable stewardship framework for all prospects and secured institutional funders
  • Proactively steward relationships with secured funders in a manner that seeks to understand and respond to individual needs and objectives
  • Proactively communicate program successes to institutional funders and engage them with program events
  • Maintain a comprehensive fundraising database and filing system that includes accurate and complete donor information, including all communications
  • Identify and execute opportunities for institutional partners to engage with the TFA program and staff
  • Identify opportunities to engage the TFA Executive Leadership Team and Board in securing and stewarding major institutional gifts.

 

Internal Team Engagement

  • The Philanthropy Communications Coordinator is a direct report, with a focus on grant proposal and acquittal writing, communications, and Salesforce reporting.
  • Work with the Development Communications Lead to ensure comprehensive, compelling funding submissions and timely acquittal of funds where required
  • Support the maintenance of comprehensive fundraising database (Salesforce) that includes accurate and complete donor and grants information
